HEAT WAVE. NO SCHOOL. KIDS IN STUDIO

So the London heat wave hit just as I was getting into the work on my Identity painting, being fully immersed in the embroidery process. Planning to spend al of Wednesday and Thursday just working on it.

I suddenly get an email that the school is going to be closed all day Wednesday. The angry me immediately thought: “They’re not doing it for the kids, the teachers just want a day off, and what are parents supposed to do?!?!?!”

My husband ended up having them for the first half of the day so I could do some work but the other(longer) half was on me. I decided: too bad, they will have to come to the studio and site here for 2h(without ipads) and find something to do.

And not only did they find something todo, my daughter ended up making a piece inspired by what I’m working on:)) This is one of those moments when I feel maybe, just maybe, there are those moments when motherhood and being an artist can somehow coexist and maybe even inspire someone along the way?
